1:1さて、ヤコブと共に、おのおのその家族を伴って、エジプトへ行ったイスラエルの子らの名は次のとおりである。1:1 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt (every man and his household came with Jacob):
1:2すなわちルベン、シメオン、レビ、ユダ、1:2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
1:3イッサカル、ゼブルン、ベニヤミン、1:3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
1:4ダン、ナフタリ、ガド、アセルであった。1:4 Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
1:5ヤコブの腰から出たものは、合わせて七十人。ヨセフはすでにエジプトにいた。1:5 All the souls who came out of Jacob’s body were seventy souls, and Joseph was in Egypt already.
1:6そして、ヨセフは死に、兄弟たちも、その時代の人々もみな死んだ。1:6 Joseph died, as did all his brothers, and all that generation.
1:7けれどもイスラエルの子孫は多くの子を生み、ますますふえ、はなはだ強くなって、国に満ちるようになった。1:7 The children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
1:8ここに、ヨセフのことを知らない新しい王が、エジプトに起った。1:8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who didn’t know Joseph.
1:9彼はその民に言った、「見よ、イスラエルびとなるこの民は、われわれにとって、あまりにも多く、また強すぎる。1:9 He said to his people, “Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we.
1:10さあ、われわれは、抜かりなく彼らを取り扱おう。彼らが多くなり、戦いの起るとき、敵に味方して、われわれと戦い、ついにこの国から逃げ去ることのないようにしよう」。1:10 Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies, and fight against us, and escape out of the land.”
1:11そこでエジプトびとは彼らの上に監督をおき、重い労役をもって彼らを苦しめた。彼らはパロのために倉庫の町ピトムとラメセスを建てた。1:11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses.
1:12しかしイスラエルの人々が苦しめられるにしたがって、いよいよふえひろがるので、彼らはイスラエルの人々のゆえに恐れをなした。1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out. They were grieved because of the children of Israel.
1:13エジプトびとはイスラエルの人々をきびしく使い、1:13 The Egyptians ruthlessly made the children of Israel serve,
1:14つらい務をもってその生活を苦しめた。すなわち、しっくいこね、れんが作り、および田畑のあらゆる務に当らせたが、そのすべての労役はきびしかった。1:14 and they made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and in brick, and in all kinds of service in the field, all their service, in which they ruthlessly made them serve.
1:15またエジプトの王は、ヘブルの女のために取上げをする助産婦でひとりは名をシフラといい、他のひとりは名をプアという者にさとして、1:15 The king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah,
1:16言った、「ヘブルの女のために助産をするとき、産み台の上を見て、もし男の子ならばそれを殺し、女の子ならば生かしておきなさい」。1:16 and he said, “When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool; if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”
1:17しかし助産婦たちは神をおそれ、エジプトの王が彼らに命じたようにはせず、男の子を生かしておいた。1:17 But the midwives feared God, {The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.”} and didn’t do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the baby boys alive.
1:18エジプトの王は助産婦たちを召して言った、「あなたがたはなぜこのようなことをして、男の子を生かしておいたのか」。1:18 The king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and have saved the boys alive?”
1:19助産婦たちはパロに言った、「ヘブルの女はエジプトの女とは違い、彼女たちは健やかで助産婦が行く前に産んでしまいます」。1:19 The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous, and give birth before the midwife comes to them.”
1:20それで神は助産婦たちに恵みをほどこされた。そして民はふえ、非常に強くなった。1:20 God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and grew very mighty.
1:21助産婦たちは神をおそれたので、神は彼女たちの家を栄えさせられた。1:21 It happened, because the midwives feared God, that he gave them families.
1:22そこでパロはそのすべての民に命じて言った、「ヘブルびとに男の子が生れたならば、みなナイル川に投げこめ。しかし女の子はみな生かしておけ」。1:22 Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “You shall cast every son who is born into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”
2:1さて、レビの家のひとりの人が行ってレビの娘をめとった。2:1 A man of the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi as his wife.
2:2女はみごもって、男の子を産んだが、その麗しいのを見て、三月のあいだ隠していた。2:2 The woman conceived, and bore a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months.
2:3しかし、もう隠しきれなくなったので、パピルスで編んだかごを取り、それにアスファルトと樹脂とを塗って、子をその中に入れ、これをナイル川の岸の葦の中においた。2:3 When she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar and with pitch. She put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.
2:4その姉は、彼がどうされるかを知ろうと、遠く離れて立っていた。2:4 His sister stood far off, to see what would be done to him.
2:5ときにパロの娘が身を洗おうと、川に降りてきた。侍女たちは川べを歩いていたが、彼女は、葦の中にかごのあるのを見て、つかえめをやり、それを取ってこさせ、2:5 Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it.
2:6あけて見ると子供がいた。見よ、幼な子は泣いていた。彼女はかわいそうに思って言った、「これはヘブルびとの子供です」。2:6 She opened it, and saw the child, and behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”
2:7そのとき幼な子の姉はパロの娘に言った、「わたしが行ってヘブルの女のうちから、あなたのために、この子に乳を飲ませるうばを呼んでまいりましょうか」。2:7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”
2:8パロの娘が「行ってきてください」と言うと、少女は行ってその子の母を呼んできた。2:8 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” The maiden went and called the child’s mother.
2:9パロの娘は彼女に言った、「この子を連れて行って、わたしに代り、乳を飲ませてください。わたしはその報酬をさしあげます」。女はその子を引き取って、これに乳を与えた。2:9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” The woman took the child, and nursed it.
2:10その子が成長したので、彼女はこれをパロの娘のところに連れて行った。そして彼はその子となった。彼女はその名をモーセと名づけて言った、「水の中からわたしが引き出したからです」。2:10 The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, {“Moses” sounds like the Hebrew for “draw out”.} and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”
2:11モーセが成長して後、ある日のこと、同胞の所に出て行って、そのはげしい労役を見た。彼はひとりのエジプトびとが、同胞のひとりであるヘブルびとを打つのを見たので、2:11 It happened in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brothers, and looked at their burdens. He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.
2:12左右を見まわし、人のいないのを見て、そのエジプトびとを打ち殺し、これを砂の中に隠した。2:12 He looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no one, he killed the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
2:13次の日また出て行って、ふたりのヘブルびとが互に争っているのを見、悪い方の男に言った、「あなたはなぜ、あなたの友を打つのですか」。2:13 He went out the second day, and behold, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, “Why do you strike your fellow?”
2:14彼は言った、「だれがあなたを立てて、われわれのつかさ、また裁判人としたのですか。エジプトびとを殺したように、あなたはわたしを殺そうと思うのですか」。モーセは恐れた。そしてあの事がきっと知れたのだと思った。2:14 He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”
2:15パロはこの事を聞いて、モーセを殺そうとした。しかしモーセはパロの前をのがれて、ミデヤンの地に行き、井戸のかたわらに座していた。2:15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and lived in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.
2:16さて、ミデヤンの祭司に七人の娘があった。彼女たちはきて水をくみ、水槽にみたして父の羊の群れに飲ませようとしたが、2:16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. They came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
2:17羊飼たちがきて彼女らを追い払ったので、モーセは立ち上がって彼女たちを助け、その羊の群れに水を飲ませた。2:17 The shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
2:18彼女たちが父リウエルのところに帰った時、父は言った、「きょうは、どうして、こんなに早く帰ってきたのか」。2:18 When they came to Reuel, their father, he said, “How is it that you have returned so early today?”
2:19彼女たちは言った、「ひとりのエジプトびとが、わたしたちを羊飼たちの手から助け出し、そのうえ、水をたくさんくんで、羊の群れに飲ませてくれたのです」。2:19 They said, “An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock.”
2:20彼は娘たちに言った、「そのかたはどこにおられるか。なぜ、そのかたをおいてきたのか。呼んできて、食事をさしあげなさい」。2:20 He said to his daughters, “Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”
2:21モーセがこの人と共におることを好んだので、彼は娘のチッポラを妻としてモーセに与えた。2:21 Moses was content to dwell with the man. He gave Moses Zipporah, his daughter.
2:22彼女が男の子を産んだので、モーセはその名をゲルショムと名づけた。「わたしは外国に寄留者となっている」と言ったからである。2:22 She bore a son, and he named him Gershom, {“Gershom” sounds like the Hebrew for “an alien there.”} for he said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land.”
2:23多くの日を経て、エジプトの王は死んだ。イスラエルの人々は、その苦役の務のゆえにうめき、また叫んだが、その苦役のゆえの叫びは神に届いた。2:23 It happened in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.
2:24神は彼らのうめきを聞き、神はアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブとの契約を覚え、2:24 God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
2:25神はイスラエルの人々を顧み、神は彼らをしろしめされた。2:25 God saw the children of Israel, and God was concerned about them.
3:1モーセは妻の父、ミデヤンの祭司エテロの羊の群れを飼っていたが、その群れを荒野の奥に導いて、神の山ホレブにきた。3:1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb.
3:2ときに主の使は、しばの中の炎のうちに彼に現れた。彼が見ると、しばは火に燃えているのに、そのしばはなくならなかった。3:2 The angel of Yahweh {“Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations.} appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3:3モーセは言った、「行ってこの大きな見ものを見、なぜしばが燃えてしまわないかを知ろう」。3:3 Moses said, “I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.”
3:4主は彼がきて見定めようとするのを見、神はしばの中から彼を呼んで、「モーセよ、モーセよ」と言われた。彼は「ここにいます」と言った。3:4 When Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!” He said, “Here I am.”

3:7主はまた言われた、「わたしは、エジプトにいるわたしの民の悩みを、つぶさに見、また追い使う者のゆえに彼らの叫ぶのを聞いた。わたしは彼らの苦しみを知っている。3:7 Yahweh said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
3:8わたしは下って、彼らをエジプトびとの手から救い出し、これをかの地から導き上って、良い広い地、乳と蜜の流れる地、すなわちカナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとのおる所に至らせようとしている。3:8 I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
3:9いまイスラエルの人々の叫びがわたしに届いた。わたしはまたエジプトびとが彼らをしえたげる、そのしえたげを見た。3:9 Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
3:10さあ、わたしは、あなたをパロにつかわして、わたしの民、イスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出させよう」。3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
3:11モーセは神に言った、「わたしは、いったい何者でしょう。わたしがパロのところへ行って、イスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出すのでしょうか」。3:11 Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
3:12神は言われた、「わたしは必ずあなたと共にいる。これが、わたしのあなたをつかわしたしるしである。あなたが民をエジプトから導き出したとき、あなたがたはこの山で神に仕えるであろう」。3:12 He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
3:13モーセは神に言った、「わたしがイスラエルの人々のところへ行って、彼らに『あなたがたの先祖の神が、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と言うとき、彼らが『その名はなんというのですか』とわたしに聞くならば、なんと答えましょうか」。3:13 Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you;’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?”
3:14神はモーセに言われた、「わたしは、有って有る者」。また言われた、「イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい、『「わたしは有る」というかたが、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と」。3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”
3:15神はまたモーセに言われた、「イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい『あなたがたの先祖の神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である主が、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と。これは永遠にわたしの名、これは世々のわたしの呼び名である。3:15 God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.

3:17それでわたしはあなたがたを、エジプトの悩みから導き出して、カナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとの地、乳と蜜の流れる地へ携え上ろうと決心した」と』。3:17 and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”‘

Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh, our God.’
3:19しかし、エジプトの王は強い手をもって迫らなければ、あなたがたを行かせないのをわたしは知っている。3:19 I know that the king of Egypt won’t give you permission to go, no, not by a mighty hand.
3:20それで、わたしは手を伸べて、エジプトのうちに行おうとする、さまざまの不思議をもってエジプトを打とう。その後に彼はあなたがたを去らせるであろう。3:20 I will reach out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in its midst, and after that he will let you go.
3:21わたしはこの民にエジプトびとの好意を得させる。あなたがたは去るときに、むなし手で去ってはならない。3:21 I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and it will happen that when you go, you shall not go empty-handed.
3:22女はみな、その隣の女と、家に宿っている女に、銀の飾り、金の飾り、また衣服を求めなさい。そしてこれらを、あなたがたのむすこ、娘に着けさせなさい。このようにエジプトびとのものを奪い取りなさい」。3:22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her who visits her house, jewels of silver, jewels of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons, and on your daughters. You shall plunder the Egyptians.”
4:1モーセは言った、「しかし、彼らはわたしを信ぜず、またわたしの声に聞き従わないで言うでしょう、『主はあなたに現れなかった』と」。4:1 Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘Yahweh has not appeared to you.'”
4:2主は彼に言われた、「あなたの手にあるそれは何か」。彼は言った、「つえです」。4:2 Yahweh said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”

4:5これは、彼らの先祖たちの神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である主が、あなたに現れたのを、彼らに信じさせるためである」。4:5 “That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
4:6主はまた彼に言われた、「あなたの手をふところに入れなさい」。彼が手をふところに入れ、それを出すと、手は、らい病にかかって、雪のように白くなっていた。4:6 Yahweh said furthermore to him, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.

4:9彼らがもしこの二つのしるしをも信ぜず、あなたの声に聞き従わないならば、あなたはナイル川の水を取って、かわいた地に注ぎなさい。あなたがナイル川から取った水は、かわいた地で血となるであろう」。4:9 It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.”
4:10モーセは主に言った、「ああ主よ、わたしは以前にも、またあなたが、しもべに語られてから後も、言葉の人ではありません。わたしは口も重く、舌も重いのです」。4:10 Moses said to Yahweh, “O Lord, {The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.”} I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”
4:11主は彼に言われた、「だれが人に口を授けたのか。おし、耳しい、目あき、目しいにだれがするのか。主なるわたしではないか。4:11 Yahweh said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, Yahweh?
4:12それゆえ行きなさい。わたしはあなたの口と共にあって、あなたの言うべきことを教えるであろう」。4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.”
4:13モーセは言った、「ああ、主よ、どうか、ほかの適当な人をおつかわしください」。4:13 He said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”
4:14そこで、主はモーセにむかって怒りを発して言われた、「あなたの兄弟レビびとアロンがいるではないか。わたしは彼が言葉にすぐれているのを知っている。見よ、彼はあなたに会おうとして出てきている。彼はあなたを見て心に喜ぶであろう。4:14 The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Moses, and he said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he comes out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
4:15あなたは彼に語って言葉をその口に授けなさい。わたしはあなたの口と共にあり、彼の口と共にあって、あなたがたのなすべきことを教え、4:15 You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.
4:16彼はあなたに代って民に語るであろう。彼はあなたの口となり、あなたは彼のために、神に代るであろう。4:16 He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.
4:17あなたはそのつえを手に執り、それをもって、しるしを行いなさい」。4:17 You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”
4:18モーセは妻の父エテロのところに帰って彼に言った、「どうかわたしを、エジプトにいる身うちの者のところに帰らせ、彼らがまだ生きながらえているか、どうかを見させてください」。エテロはモーセに言った、「安んじて行きなさい」。4:18 Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, “Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
4:19主はミデヤンでモーセに言われた、「エジプトに帰って行きなさい。あなたの命を求めた人々はみな死んだ」。4:19 Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead.”
4:20そこでモーセは妻と子供たちをとり、ろばに乗せて、エジプトの地に帰った。モーセは手に神のつえを執った。4:20 Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God’s rod in his hand.
4:21主はモーセに言われた、「あなたがエジプトに帰ったとき、わたしがあなたの手に授けた不思議を、みなパロの前で行いなさい。しかし、わたしが彼の心をかたくなにするので、彼は民を去らせないであろう。4:21 Yahweh said to Moses, “When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.
4:22あなたはパロに言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる。イスラエルはわたしの子、わたしの長子である。4:22 You shall tell Pharaoh, ‘Thus says Yahweh, Israel is my son, my firstborn,
4:23わたしはあなたに言う。わたしの子を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。もし彼を去らせるのを拒むならば、わたしはあなたの子、あなたの長子を殺すであろう』と」。4:23 and I have said to you, “Let my son go, that he may serve me”; and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.'”
4:24さてモーセが途中で宿っている時、主は彼に会って彼を殺そうとされた。4:24 It happened on the way at a lodging place, that Yahweh met Moses and wanted to kill him.
4:25その時チッポラは火打ち石の小刀を取って、その男の子の前の皮を切り、それをモーセの足につけて言った、「あなたはまことに、わたしにとって血の花婿です」。4:25 Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.”

4:27主はアロンに言われた、「荒野に行ってモーセに会いなさい」。彼は行って神の山でモーセに会い、これに口づけした。4:27 Yahweh said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” He went, and met him on God’s mountain, and kissed him.
4:28モーセは自分をつかわされた主のすべての言葉と、命じられたすべてのしるしをアロンに告げた。4:28 Moses told Aaron all the words of Yahweh with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.
4:29そこでモーセとアロンは行ってイスラエルの人々の長老たちをみな集めた。4:29 Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.
4:30そしてアロンは主がモーセに語られた言葉を、ことごとく告げた。また彼は民の前でしるしを行ったので、4:30 Aaron spoke all the words which Yahweh had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
4:31民は信じた。彼らは主がイスラエルの人々を顧み、その苦しみを見られたのを聞き、伏して礼拝した。4:31 The people believed, and when they heard that Yahweh had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.
5:1その後、モーセとアロンは行ってパロに言った、「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる、『わたしの民を去らせ、荒野で、わたしのために祭をさせなさい』と」。5:1 Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, “This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.'”
5:2パロは言った、「主とはいったい何者か。わたしがその声に聞き従ってイスラエルを去らせなければならないのか。わたしは主を知らない。またイスラエルを去らせはしない」。5:2 Pharaoh said, “Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”
5:3彼らは言った、「ヘブルびとの神がわたしたちに現れました。どうか、わたしたちを三日の道のりほど荒野に行かせ、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげさせてください。そうしなければ主は疫病か、つるぎをもって、わたしたちを悩まされるからです」。5:3 They said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”
5:4エジプトの王は彼らに言った、「モーセとアロンよ、あなたがたは、なぜ民に働きをやめさせようとするのか。自分の労役につくがよい」。5:4 The king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”
5:5パロはまた言った、「見よ、今や土民の数は多い。しかも、あなたがたは彼らに労役を休ませようとするのか」。5:5 Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”
5:6その日、パロは民を追い使う者と、民のかしらたちに命じて言った、5:6 The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
5:7「あなたがたは、れんがを作るためのわらを、もはや、今までのように、この民に与えてはならない。彼らに自分で行って、わらを集めさせなさい。5:7 “You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
5:8また前に作っていた、れんがの数どおりに彼らに作らせ、それを減らしてはならない。彼らはなまけ者だ。それだから、彼らは叫んで、『行ってわたしたちの神に犠牲をささげさせよ』と言うのだ。5:8 The number of the bricks, which they made before, you require from them. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
5:9この人々の労役を重くして、働かせ、偽りの言葉に心を寄せさせぬようにしなさい」。5:9 Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor therein; and don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”
5:10そこで民を追い使う者たちと、民のかしらたちは出て行って、民に言った、「パロはこう仰せられる、『あなたがたに、わらは与えない。5:10 The taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you straw.
5:11自分で行って、見つかる所から、わらを取って来るがよい。しかし働きは少しも減らしてはならない』と」。5:11 Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.'”
5:12そこで民はエジプトの全地に散って、わらのかわりに、刈り株を集めた。5:12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
5:13追い使う者たちは、彼らをせき立てて言った、「わらがあった時と同じように、あなたがたの働きの、日ごとの分を仕上げなければならない」。5:13 The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”

5:15そこで、イスラエルの人々のかしらたちはパロのところに行き、叫んで言った、「あなたはなぜ、しもべどもにこんなことをなさるのですか。5:15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants?
5:16しもべどもは、わらを与えられず、しかも彼らはわたしたちに、『れんがは作れ』と言うのです。その上、しもべどもは打たれています。罪はあなたの民にあるのです」。5:16 No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”
5:17パロは言った、「あなたがたは、なまけ者だ、なまけ者だ。それだから、『行って、主に犠牲をささげさせよ』と言うのだ。5:17 But he said, “You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to Yahweh.’
5:18さあ、行って働きなさい。わらは与えないが、なおあなたがたは定めた数のれんがを納めなければならない」。5:18 Go therefore now, and work, for no straw shall be given to you, yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”
5:19イスラエルの人々のかしらたちは、「れんがの日ごとの分を減らしてはならない」と言われたので、悪い事態になったことを知った。5:19 The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble, when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”
5:20彼らがパロを離れて出てきた時、彼らに会おうとして立っていたモーセとアロンに会ったので、5:20 They met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came out from Pharaoh:

5:22モーセは主のもとに帰って言った、「主よ、あなたは、なぜこの民をひどい目にあわされるのですか。なんのためにわたしをつかわされたのですか。5:22 Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?
5:23わたしがパロのもとに行って、あなたの名によって語ってからこのかた、彼はこの民をひどい目にあわせるばかりです。また、あなたは、すこしもあなたの民を救おうとなさいません」。5:23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people; neither have you delivered your people at all.”
6:1主はモーセに言われた、「今、あなたは、わたしがパロに何をしようとしているかを見るであろう。すなわちパロは強い手にしいられて、彼らを去らせるであろう。否、彼は強い手にしいられて、彼らを国から追い出すであろう」。6:1 Yahweh said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh, for by a strong hand he shall let them go, and by a strong hand he shall drive them out of his land.”
6:2神はモーセに言われた、「わたしは主である。6:2 God spoke to Moses, and said to him, “I am Yahweh;
6:3わたしはアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブには全能の神として現れたが、主という名では、自分を彼らに知らせなかった。6:3 and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty; but by my name Yahweh I was not known to them.
6:4わたしはまたカナンの地、すなわち彼らが寄留したその寄留の地を、彼らに与えるという契約を彼らと立てた。6:4 I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their travels, in which they lived as aliens.
6:5わたしはまた、エジプトびとが奴隷としているイスラエルの人々のうめきを聞いて、わたしの契約を思い出した。6:5 Moreover I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered my covenant.
6:6それゆえ、イスラエルの人々に言いなさい、『わたしは主である。わたしはあなたがたをエジプトびとの労役の下から導き出し、奴隷の務から救い、また伸べた腕と大いなるさばきをもって、あなたがたをあがなうであろう。6:6 Therefore tell the children of Israel, ‘I am Yahweh, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments:
6:7わたしはあなたがたを取ってわたしの民とし、わたしはあなたがたの神となる。わたしがエジプトびとの労役の下からあなたがたを導き出すあなたがたの神、主であることを、あなたがたは知るであろう。6:7 and I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God; and you shall know that I am Yahweh your God, who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
6:8わたしはアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに与えると手を挙げて誓ったその地にあなたがたをはいらせ、それを所有として、与えるであろう。わたしは主である』と」。6:8 I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage: I am Yahweh.'”
6:9モーセはこのようにイスラエルの人々に語ったが、彼らは心の痛みと、きびしい奴隷の務のゆえに、モーセに聞き従わなかった。6:9 Moses spoke so to the children of Israel, but they didn’t listen to Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
6:10さて主はモーセに言われた、6:10 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
6:11「エジプトの王パロのところに行って、彼がイスラエルの人々をその国から去らせるように話しなさい」。6:11 “Go in, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.”
6:12モーセは主にむかって言った、「イスラエルの人々でさえ、わたしの言うことを聞かなかったのに、どうして、くちびるに割礼のないわたしの言うことを、パロが聞き入れましょうか」。6:12 Moses spoke before Yahweh, saying, “Behold, the children of Israel haven’t listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, who am of uncircumcised lips?”
6:13しかし、主はモーセとアロンに語って、イスラエルの人々と、エジプトの王パロのもとに行かせ、イスラエルの人々をエジプトの地から導き出せと命じられた。6:13 Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a command to the children of Israel, and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
6:14彼らの先祖の家の首長たちは次のとおりである。すなわちイスラエルの長子ルベンの子らはハノク、パル、ヘヅロン、カルミで、これらはルベンの一族である。6:14 These are the heads of their fathers’ houses. The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben.
6:15シメオンの子らはエムエル、ヤミン、オハデ、ヤキン、ゾハル、およびカナンの女から生れたシャウルで、これらはシメオンの一族である。6:15 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the families of Simeon.
6:16レビの子らの名は、その世代に従えば、ゲルション、コハテ、メラリで、レビの一生は百三十七年であった。6:16 These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari; and the years of the life of Levi were one hundred thirty-seven years.
6:17ゲルションの子らの一族はリブニとシメイである。6:17 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, according to their families.
6:18コハテの子らはアムラム、イヅハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルで、コハテの一生は百三十三年であった。6:18 The sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel; and the years of the life of Kohath were one hundred thirty-three years.
6:19メラリの子らはマヘリとムシである。これらはその世代によるレビの一族である。6:19 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations.
6:20アムラムは父の妹ヨケベデを妻としたが、彼女はアロンとモーセを彼に産んだ。アムラムの一生は百三十七年であった。6:20 Amram took Jochebed his father’s sister to himself as wife; and she bore him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were a hundred and thirty-seven years.

6:22ウジエルの子らはミサエル、エルザパン、シテリである。6:22 The sons of Uzziel: Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Sithri.
6:23アロンはナションの姉妹、アミナダブの娘エリセバを妻とした。エリセバは彼にナダブ、アビウ、エレアザル、イタマルを産んだ。6:23 Aaron took Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, as his wife; and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
6:24コラの子らはアッシル、エルカナ、アビアサフで、これらはコラびとの一族である。6:24 The sons of Korah: Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites.

6:27彼らはイスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出すことについて、エジプトの王パロに語ったもので、すなわちこのモーセとアロンである。6:27 These are those who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are that Moses and Aaron.
6:28主がエジプトの地でモーセに語られた日に、6:28 It happened on the day when Yahweh spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,
6:29主はモーセに言われた、「わたしは主である。わたしがあなたに語ることは、みなエジプトの王パロに語りなさい」。6:29 that Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “I am Yahweh. Speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak to you.”
6:30しかしモーセは主にむかって言った、「ごらんのとおり、わたしは、くちびるに割礼のない者です。パロがどうしてわたしの言うことを聞きいれましょうか」。6:30 Moses said before Yahweh, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh listen to me?”
7:1主はモーセに言われた、「見よ、わたしはあなたをパロに対して神のごときものとする。あなたの兄弟アロンはあなたの預言者となるであろう。7:1 Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I have made you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
7:2あなたはわたしが命じることを、ことごとく彼に告げなければならない。そしてあなたの兄弟アロンはパロに告げて、イスラエルの人々をその国から去らせるようにさせなければならない。7:2 You shall speak all that I command you; and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
7:3しかし、わたしはパロの心をかたくなにするので、わたしのしるしと不思議をエジプトの国に多く行っても、7:3 I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
7:4パロはあなたがたの言うことを聞かないであろう。それでわたしは手をエジプトの上に加え、大いなるさばきをくだして、わたしの軍団、わたしの民イスラエルの人々を、エジプトの国から導き出すであろう。7:4 But Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will lay my hand on Egypt, and bring out my armies, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
7:5わたしが手をエジプトの上にさし伸べて、イスラエルの人々を彼らのうちから導き出す時、エジプトびとはわたしが主であることを知るようになるであろう」。7:5 The Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh, when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”
7:6モーセとアロンはそのように行った。すなわち主が彼らに命じられたように行った。7:6 Moses and Aaron did so. As Yahweh commanded them, so they did.
7:7彼らがパロと語った時、モーセは八十歳、アロンは八十三歳であった。7:7 Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
7:8主はモーセとアロンに言われた、7:8 Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
7:9「パロがあなたがたに、『不思議をおこなって証拠を示せ』と言う時、あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえを取って、パロの前に投げなさい』と。するとそれはへびになるであろう」。7:9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Perform a miracle!’ then you shall tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent.'”
7:10それで、モーセとアロンはパロのところに行き、主の命じられたとおりにおこなった。すなわちアロンはそのつえを、パロとその家来たちの前に投げると、それはへびになった。7:10 Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as Yahweh had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
7:11そこでパロもまた知者と魔法使を召し寄せた。これらのエジプトの魔術師らもまた、その秘術をもって同じように行った。7:11 Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same thing with their enchantments.
7:12すなわち彼らは、おのおのそのつえを投げたが、それらはへびになった。しかし、アロンのつえは彼らのつえを、のみつくした。7:12 For they each cast down their rods, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
7:13けれども、パロの心はかたくなになって、主の言われたように、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。7:13 Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them; as Yahweh had spoken.
7:14主はモーセに言われた、「パロの心はかたくなで、彼は民を去らせることを拒んでいる。7:14 Yahweh said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn. He refuses to let the people go.
7:15あなたは、あすの朝、パロのところに行きなさい。見よ、彼は水のところに出ている。あなたは、へびに変ったあのつえを手に執り、ナイル川の岸に立って彼に会い、7:15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning. Behold, he goes out to the water; and you shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.
7:16そして彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主がわたしをあなたにつかわして言われます、「わたしの民を去らせ、荒野で、わたしに仕えるようにさせよ」と。しかし今もなお、あなたが聞きいれようとされないので、7:16 You shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, “Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness:” and behold, until now you haven’t listened.
7:17主はこう仰せられます、「これによってわたしが主であることを、あなたは知るでしょう。見よ、わたしが手にあるつえでナイル川の水を打つと、それは血に変るであろう。7:17 Thus says Yahweh, “In this you shall know that I am Yahweh. Behold, I will strike with the rod that is in my hand on the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
7:18そして川の魚は死に、川は臭くなり、エジプトびとは川の水を飲むことをいとうであろう」』と」。7:18 The fish that are in the river shall die, and the river shall become foul; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink water from the river.”‘”
7:19主はまたモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえを執って、手をエジプトの水の上、川の上、流れの上、池の上、またそのすべての水たまりの上にさし伸べて、それを血にならせなさい。エジプト全国にわたって、木の器、石の器にも、血があるようになるでしょう』と」。7:19 Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.'”
7:20モーセとアロンは主の命じられたようにおこなった。すなわち、彼はパロとその家来たちの目の前で、つえをあげてナイル川の水を打つと、川の水は、ことごとく血に変った。7:20 Moses and Aaron did so, as Yahweh commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
7:21それで川の魚は死に、川は臭くなり、エジプトびとは川の水を飲むことができなくなった。そしてエジプト全国にわたって血があった。7:21 The fish that were in the river died; and the river became foul, and the Egyptians couldn’t drink water from the river; and the blood was throughout all the land of Egypt.
7:22エジプトの魔術師らも秘術をもって同じようにおこなった。しかし、主の言われたように、パロの心はかたくなになり、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。7:22 The magicians of Egypt did the same thing with their enchantments; and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them; as Yahweh had spoken.
7:23パロは身をめぐらして家に入り、またこのことをも心に留めなかった。7:23 Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he didn’t even take this to heart.
7:24すべてのエジプトびとはナイル川の水が飲めなかったので、飲む水を得ようと、川のまわりを掘った。7:24 All the Egyptians dug around the river for water to drink; for they couldn’t drink of the water of the river.

8:1主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはパロのところに行って言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられます、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。8:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, “This is what Yahweh says, ‘Let my people go, that they may serve me.
8:2しかし、去らせることを拒むならば、見よ、わたしは、かえるをもって、あなたの領土を、ことごとく撃つであろう。8:2 If you refuse to let them go, behold, I will plague all your borders with frogs:
8:3ナイル川にかえるが群がり、のぼって、あなたの家、あなたの寝室にはいり、寝台にのぼり、あなたの家来と民の家にはいり、またあなたのかまどや、こね鉢にはいり、8:3 and the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into your house, and into your bedroom, and on your bed, and into the house of your servants, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading troughs:
8:4あなたと、あなたの民と、すべての家来のからだに、はい上がるであろう」と』」。8:4 and the frogs shall come up both on you, and on your people, and on all your servants.'”
8:5主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『つえを持って、手を川の上、流れの上、、池の上にさし伸べ、かえるをエジプトの地にのぼらせなさい』と」。8:5 Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the rivers, over the streams, and over the pools, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.'”
8:6アロンが手をエジプトの水の上にさし伸べたので、かえるはのぼってエジプトの地をおおった。8:6 Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.
8:7魔術師らも秘術をもって同じように行い、かえるをエジプトの地にのぼらせた。8:7 The magicians did the same thing with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.
8:8パロはモーセとアロンを召して言った、「かえるをわたしと、わたしの民から取り去るように主に願ってください。そのときわたしはこの民を去らせて、主に犠牲をささげさせるでしょう」。8:8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat Yahweh, that he take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to Yahweh.”
8:9モーセはパロに言った、「あなたと、あなたの家来と、あなたの民のために、わたしがいつ願って、このかえるを、あなたとあなたの家から断って、ナイル川だけにとどまらせるべきか、きめてください」。8:9 Moses said to Pharaoh, “I give you the honor of setting the time that I should pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, that the frogs be destroyed from you and your houses, and remain in the river only.”

8:12こうしてモーセとアロンはパロを離れて出た。モーセは主がパロにつかわされたかえるの事について、主に呼び求めたので、8:12 Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Moses cried to Yahweh concerning the frogs which he had brought on Pharaoh.
8:13主はモーセのことばのようにされ、かえるは家から、庭から、また畑から死に絶えた。8:13 Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.
8:14これをひと山ひと山に積んだので、地は臭くなった。8:14 They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.
8:15ところがパロは息つくひまのできたのを見て、主が言われたように、その心をかたくなにして彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。8:15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart, and didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
8:16主はモーセに言われた、「あなたはアロンに言いなさい、『あなたのつえをさし伸べて地のちりを打ち、それをエジプトの全国にわたって、ぶよとならせなさい』と」。8:16 Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the earth, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.'”
8:17彼らはそのように行った。すなわちアロンはそのつえをとって手をさし伸べ、地のちりを打ったので、ぶよは人と家畜についた。すなわち、地のちりはみなエジプトの全国にわたって、ぶよとなった。8:17 They did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and struck the dust of the earth, and there were lice on man, and on animal; all the dust of the earth became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
8:18魔術師らも秘術をもって同じように行ない、ぶよを出そうとしたが、彼らにはできなかった。ぶよが人と家畜についたので、8:18 The magicians tried with their enchantments to produce lice, but they couldn’t. There were lice on man, and on animal.
8:19魔術師らはパロに言った、「これは神の指です」。しかし主の言われたように、パロの心はかたくなになって、彼らのいうことを聞かなかった。8:19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God:” and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them; as Yahweh had spoken.

8:22その日わたしは、わたしの民の住むゴセンの地を区別して、そこにあぶの群れを入れないであろう。国の中でわたしが主であることをあなたが知るためである。8:22 I will set apart in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end you may know that I am Yahweh in the midst of the earth.
8:23わたしはわたしの民とあなたの民の間に区別をおく。このしるしは、あす起るであろう」と』」。8:23 I will put a division between my people and your people: by tomorrow shall this sign be.”‘”
8:24主はそのようにされたので、おびただしいあぶが、パロの家と、その家来の家と、エジプトの全国にはいってきて、地はあぶの群れのために害をうけた。8:24 Yahweh did so; and there came grievous swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants’ houses: and in all the land of Egypt the land was corrupted by reason of the swarms of flies.
8:25そこで、パロはモーセとアロンを召して言った、「あなたがたは行ってこの国の内で、あなたがたの神に犠牲をささげなさい」。8:25 Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God in the land!”
8:26モーセは言った、「そうすることはできません。わたしたちはエジプトびとの忌むものを犠牲として、わたしたちの神、主にささげるからです。もし、エジプトびとの目の前で、彼らの忌むものを犠牲にささげるならば、彼らはわたしたちを石で打たないでしょうか。8:26 Moses said, “It isn’t appropriate to do so; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to Yahweh our God. Behold, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and won’t they stone us?
8:27わたしたちは三日の道のりほど、荒野にはいって、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげ、主がわたしたちに命じられるようにしなければなりません」。8:27 We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh our God, as he shall command us.”
8:28パロは言った、「わたしはあなたがたを去らせ、荒野で、あなたがたの神、主に犠牲をささげさせよう。ただあまり遠くへ行ってはならない。わたしのために祈願しなさい」。8:28 Pharaoh said, “I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to Yahweh your God in the wilderness, only you shall not go very far away. Pray for me.”
8:29モーセは言った、「わたしはあなたのもとから出て行って主に祈願しましょう。あすあぶの群れがパロと、その家来と、その民から離れるでしょう。ただパロはまた欺いて、民が主に犠牲をささげに行くのをとめないようにしてください」。8:29 Moses said, “Behold, I go out from you, and I will pray to Yahweh that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow; only don’t let Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to Yahweh.”
8:30こうしてモーセはパロのもとを出て、主に祈願したので、8:30 Moses went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to Yahweh.
8:31主はモーセの言葉のようにされた。すなわち、あぶの群れをパロと、その家来と、その民から取り去られたので、一つも残らなかった。8:31 Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. There remained not one.
8:32しかしパロはこんどもまた、その心をかたくなにして民を去らせなかった。8:32 Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and he didn’t let the people go.
9:1主はモーセに言われた、「パロのもとに行って、彼に言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主はこう仰せられる、「わたしの民を去らせて、わたしに仕えさせなさい。9:1 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me.
9:2あなたがもし彼らを去らせることを拒んで、なお彼らを留めおくならば、9:2 For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still,
9:3主の手は最も激しい疫病をもって、野にいるあなたの家畜、すなわち馬、ろば、らくだ、牛、羊の上に臨むであろう。9:3 behold, the hand of Yahweh is on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence.
9:4しかし、主はイスラエルの家畜と、エジプトの家畜を区別され、すべてイスラエルの人々に属するものには一頭も死ぬものがないであろう」と』」。9:4 Yahweh will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”‘”
9:5主は、また、時を定めて仰せられた、「あす、主はこのことを国に行うであろう」。9:5 Yahweh appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow Yahweh shall do this thing in the land.”

9:7パロは人をつかわして見させたが、イスラエルの家畜は一頭も死んでいなかった。それでもパロの心はかたくなで、民を去らせなかった。9:7 Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the livestock of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he didn’t let the people go.
9:8主はモーセとアロンに言われた、「あなたがたは、かまどのすすを両手いっぱい取り、それをモーセはパロの目の前で天にむかって、まき散らしなさい。9:8 Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.
9:9それはエジプトの全国にわたって、細かいちりとなり、エジプト全国で人と獣に付いて、うみの出るはれものとなるであろう」。9:9 It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt.”
9:10そこで彼らは、かまどのすすを取ってパロの前に立ち、モーセは天にむかってこれをまき散らしたので、人と獣に付いて、うみの出るはれものとなった。9:10 They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal.
9:11魔術師らは、はれもののためにモーセの前に立つことができなかった。はれものが魔術師らと、すべてのエジプトびとに生じたからである。9:11 The magicians couldn’t stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Egyptians.
9:12しかし、主はパロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼は主がモーセに語られたように、彼らの言うことを聞かなかった。9:12 Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken to Moses.

9:14わたしは、こんどは、もろもろの災を、あなたと、あなたの家来と、あなたの民にくだし、わたしに並ぶものが全地にないことを知らせるであろう。9:14 For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth.
9:15わたしがもし、手をさし伸べ、疫病をもって、あなたと、あなたの民を打っていたならば、あなたは地から断ち滅ぼされていたであろう。9:15 For now I would have stretched out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth;
9:16しかし、わたしがあなたをながらえさせたのは、あなたにわたしの力を見させるため、そして、わたしの名が全地に宣べ伝えられるためにほかならない。9:16 but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth;

9:19それゆえ、いま、人をやって、あなたの家畜と、あなたが野にもっているすべてのものを、のがれさせなさい。人も獣も、すべて野にあって家に帰らないものは降る雹に打たれて死ぬであろう」と』」。9:19 Now therefore command that all of your livestock and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. Every man and animal that is found in the field, and isn’t brought home, the hail shall come down on them, and they shall die.”‘”
9:20パロの家来のうち、主の言葉をおそれる者は、そのしもべと家畜を家にのがれさせたが、9:20 Those who feared the word of Yahweh among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses.
9:21主の言葉を意にとめないものは、そのしもべと家畜を野に残しておいた。9:21 Whoever didn’t respect the word of Yahweh left his servants and his livestock in the field.
9:22主はモーセに言われた、「あなたの手を天にむかってさし伸べ、エジプトの全国にわたって、エジプトの地にいる人と獣と畑のすべての青物の上に雹を降らせなさい」。9:22 Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.”
9:23モーセが天にむかってつえをさし伸べると、主は雷と雹をおくられ、火は地にむかって、はせ下った。こうして主は、雹をエジプトの地に降らされた。9:23 Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt.
9:24そして雹が降り、雹の間に火がひらめき渡った。雹は恐ろしく大きく、エジプト全国には、国をなしてこのかた、かつてないものであった。9:24 So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
9:25雹はエジプト全国にわたって、すべて畑にいる人と獣を打った。雹はまた畑のすべての青物を打ち、野のもろもろの木を折り砕いた。9:25 The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field.
9:26ただイスラエルの人々のいたゴセンの地には、雹が降らなかった。9:26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail.
9:27そこで、パロは人をつかわし、モーセとアロンを召して言った、「わたしはこんどは罪を犯した。主は正しく、わたしと、わたしの民は悪い。9:27 Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

The thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is Yahweh’s.
9:30しかし、あなたとあなたの家来たちは、なお、神なる主を恐れないことを、わたしは知っています」。9:30 But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.”
9:31 亜麻と大麦は打ち倒された。大麦は穂を出し、亜麻は花が咲いていたからである。9:31 The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom.
9:32小麦とスペルタ麦はおくてであるため打ち倒されなかった。9:32 But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up.
9:33モーセはパロのもとを去り、町を出て、主にむかって手を伸べひろげたので、雷と雹はやみ、雨は地に降らなくなった。9:33 Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands to Yahweh; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth.
9:34ところがパロは雨と雹と雷がやんだのを見て、またも罪を犯し、心をかたくなにした。彼も家来も、そうであった。9:34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
9:35すなわちパロは心をかたくなにし、主がモーセによって語られたように、イスラエルの人々を去らせなかった。9:35 The heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go, just as Yahweh had spoken through Moses.
10:1そこで、主はモーセに言われた、「パロのもとに行きなさい。わたしは彼の心とその家来たちの心をかたくなにした。これは、わたしがこれらのしるしを、彼らの中に行うためである。10:1 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs in their midst,

Let my people go, that they may serve me.
10:4もし、わたしの民を去らせることを拒むならば、見よ、あす、わたしはいなごを、あなたの領土にはいらせるであろう。10:4 Or else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country,
10:5それは地のおもてをおおい、人が地を見ることもできないほどになるであろう。そして雹を免れて、残されているものを食い尽し、野にはえているあなたがたの木をみな食い尽すであろう。10:5 and they shall cover the surface of the earth, so that one won’t be able to see the earth. They shall eat the residue of that which has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field.

10:13そこでモーセはエジプトの地の上に、つえをさし伸べたので、主は終日、終夜、東風を地に吹かせられた。朝となって、東風は、いなごを運んできた。10:13 Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and Yahweh brought an east wind on the land all that day, and all the night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
10:14いなごはエジプト全国にのぞみ、エジプトの全領土にとどまり、その数がはなはだ多く、このようないなごは前にもなく、また後にもないであろう。10:14 The locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt. They were very grievous. Before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
10:15いなごは地の全面をおおったので、地は暗くなった。そして地のすべての青物と、雹の打ち残した木の実を、ことごとく食べたので、エジプト全国にわたって、木にも畑の青物にも、緑の物とては何も残らなかった。10:15 For they covered the surface of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened, and they ate every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. There remained nothing green, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

10:23三日の間、人々は互に見ることもできず、まただれもその所から立つ者もなかった。しかし、イスラエルの人々には、みな、その住む所に光があった。10:23 They didn’t see one another, neither did anyone rise from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
10:24そこでパロはモーセを召して言った、「あなたがたは行って主に仕えなさい。あなたがたの子供も連れて行ってもよろしい。ただ、あなたがたの羊と牛は残して置きなさい」。10:24 Pharaoh called to Moses, and said, “Go, serve Yahweh. Only let your flocks and your herds stay behind. Let your little ones also go with you.”
10:25しかし、モーセは言った、「あなたは、また、わたしたちの神、主にささげる犠牲と燔祭の物をも、わたしたちにくださらなければなりません。10:25 Moses said, “You must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh our God.

Not a hoof shall be left behind, for of it we must take to serve Yahweh our God; and we don’t know with what we must serve Yahweh, until we come there.”
10:27けれども、主がパロの心をかたくなにされたので、パロは彼らを去らせようとしなかった。10:27 But Yahweh hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wouldn’t let them go.
10:28それでパロはモーセに言った、「わたしの所から去りなさい。心して、わたしの顔は二度と見てはならない。わたしの顔を見る日には、あなたの命はないであろう」。10:28 Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Be careful to see my face no more; for in the day you see my face you shall die!”
10:29モーセは言った、「よくぞ仰せられました。わたしは、二度と、あなたの顔を見ないでしょう」。10:29 Moses said, “You have spoken well. I will see your face again no more.”

11:3主は民にエジプトびとの好意を得させられた。またモーセその人は、エジプトの国で、パロの家来たちの目と民の目とに、はなはだ大いなるものと見えた。11:3 Yahweh gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.
11:4モーセは言った、「主はこう仰せられる、『真夜中ごろ、わたしはエジプトの中へ出て行くであろう。11:4 Moses said, “This is what Yahweh says: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt,
11:5エジプトの国のうちのういごは、位に座するパロのういごをはじめ、ひきうすの後にいる、はしためのういごに至るまで、みな死に、また家畜のういごもみな死ぬであろう。11:5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of livestock.
11:6そしてエジプト全国に大いなる叫びが起るであろう。このようなことはかつてなく、また、ふたたびないであろう』と。11:6 There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been, nor shall be any more.
11:7しかし、すべて、イスラエルの人々にむかっては、人にむかっても、獣にむかっても、犬さえその舌を鳴らさないであろう。これによって主がエジプトびととイスラエルびととの間の区別をされるのを、あなたがたは知るであろう。11:7 But against any of the children of Israel a dog won’t even bark or move its tongue, against man or animal; that you may know that Yahweh makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.

11:10モーセとアロンは、すべてこれらの不思議をパロの前に行ったが、主がパロの心をかたくなにされたので、彼はイスラエルの人々をその国から去らせなかった。11:10 Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and Yahweh hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go out of his land.
12:1主はエジプトの国で、モーセとアロンに告げて言われた、12:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
12:2「この月をあなたがたの初めの月とし、これを年の正月としなさい。12:2 “This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.
12:3あなたがたはイスラエルの全会衆に言いなさい、『この月の十日におのおの、その父の家ごとに小羊を取らなければならない。すなわち、一家族に小羊一頭を取らなければならない。12:3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household;
12:4もし家族が少なくて一頭の小羊を食べきれないときは、家のすぐ隣の人と共に、人数に従って一頭を取り、おのおの食べるところに応じて、小羊を見計らわなければならない。12:4 and if the household is too little for a lamb, then he and his neighbor next to his house shall take one according to the number of the souls; according to what everyone can eat you shall make your count for the lamb.
12:5小羊は傷のないもので、一歳の雄でなければならない。羊またはやぎのうちから、これを取らなければならない。12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats:
12:6そしてこの月の十四日まで、これを守って置き、イスラエルの会衆はみな、夕暮にこれをほふり、12:6 and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at evening.
12:7その血を取り、小羊を食する家の入口の二つの柱と、かもいにそれを塗らなければならない。12:7 They shall take some of the blood, and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel, on the houses in which they shall eat it.
12:8そしてその夜、その肉を火に焼いて食べ、種入れぬパンと苦菜を添えて食べなければならない。12:8 They shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread. They shall eat it with bitter herbs.
12:9生でも、水で煮ても、食べてはならない。火に焼いて、その頭を足と内臓と共に食べなければならない。12:9 Don’t eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire; with its head, its legs and its inner parts.
12:10朝までそれを残しておいてはならない。朝まで残るものは火で焼きつくさなければならない。12:10 You shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that which remains of it until the morning you shall burn with fire.

12:12その夜わたしはエジプトの国を巡って、エジプトの国におる人と獣との、すべてのういごを打ち、またエジプトのすべての神々に審判を行うであろう。わたしは主である。12:12 For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and animal. Against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am Yahweh.
12:13その血はあなたがたのおる家々で、あなたがたのために、しるしとなり、わたしはその血を見て、あなたがたの所を過ぎ越すであろう。わたしがエジプトの国を撃つ時、災が臨んで、あなたがたを滅ぼすことはないであろう。12:13 The blood shall be to you for a token on the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there shall no plague be on you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
12:14この日はあなたがたに記念となり、あなたがたは主の祭としてこれを守り、代々、永久の定めとしてこれを守らなければならない。12:14 This day shall be to you for a memorial, and you shall keep it a feast to Yahweh: throughout your generations you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.
12:15七日の間あなたがたは種入れぬパンを食べなければならない。その初めの日に家からパン種を取り除かなければならない。第一日から第七日までに、種を入れたパンを食べる人はみなイスラエルから断たれるであろう。12:15 “‘Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread; even the first day you shall put away yeast out of your houses, for whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
12:16かつ、あなたがたは第一日に聖会を、また第七日に聖会を開かなければならない。これらの日には、なんの仕事もしてはならない。ただ、おのおのの食べものだけは作ることができる。12:16 In the first day there shall be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no kind of work shall be done in them, except that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.
12:17あなたがたは、種入れぬパンの祭を守らなければならない。ちょうど、この日、わたしがあなたがたの軍勢をエジプトの国から導き出したからである。それゆえ、あなたがたは代々、永久の定めとして、その日を守らなければならない。12:17 You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this same day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations by an ordinance forever.
12:18正月に、その月の十四日の夕方に、あなたがたは種入れぬパンを食べ、その月の二十一日の夕方まで続けなければならない。12:18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty first day of the month at evening.
12:19七日の間、家にパン種を置いてはならない。種を入れたものを食べる者は、寄留の他国人であれ、国に生れた者であれ、すべて、イスラエルの会衆から断たれるであろう。12:19 There shall be no yeast found in your houses for seven days, for whoever eats that which is leavened, that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a foreigner, or one who is born in the land.
12:20あなたがたは種を入れたものは何も食べてはならない。すべてあなたがたのすまいにおいて種入れぬパンを食べなければならない』」。12:20 You shall eat nothing leavened. In all your habitations you shall eat unleavened bread.'”
12:21そこでモーセはイスラエルの長老をみな呼び寄せて言った、「あなたがたは急いで家族ごとに一つの小羊を取り、その過越の獣をほふらなければならない。12:21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said to them, “Draw out, and take lambs according to your families, and kill the Passover.
12:22また一束のヒソプを取って鉢の血に浸し、鉢の血を、かもいと入口の二つの柱につけなければならない。朝まであなたがたは、ひとりも家の戸の外に出てはならない。12:22 You shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.
12:23主が行き巡ってエジプトびとを撃たれるとき、かもいと入口の二つの柱にある血を見て、主はその入口を過ぎ越し、滅ぼす者が、あなたがたの家にはいって、撃つのを許されないであろう。12:23 For Yahweh will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel, and on the two doorposts, Yahweh will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to strike you.
12:24あなたがたはこの事を、あなたと子孫のための定めとして、永久に守らなければならない。12:24 You shall observe this thing for an ordinance to you and to your sons forever.
12:25あなたがたは、主が約束されたように、あなたがたに賜る地に至るとき、この儀式を守らなければならない。12:25 It shall happen when you have come to the land which Yahweh will give you, according as he has promised, that you shall keep this service.
12:26もし、あなたがたの子供たちが『この儀式はどんな意味ですか』と問うならば、12:26 It will happen, when your children ask you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’

12:28イスラエルの人々は行ってそのようにした。すなわち主がモーセとアロンに命じられたようにした。12:28 The children of Israel went and did so; as Yahweh had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
12:29夜中になって主はエジプトの国の、すべてのういご、すなわち位に座するパロのういごから、地下のひとやにおる捕虜のういごにいたるまで、また、すべての家畜のういごを撃たれた。12:29 It happened at midnight, that Yahweh struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of livestock.
12:30それでパロとその家来およびエジプトびとはみな夜のうちに起きあがり、エジプトに大いなる叫びがあった。死人のない家がなかったからである。12:30 Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
12:31そこでパロは夜のうちにモーセとアロンを呼び寄せて言った、「あなたがたとイスラエルの人々は立って、わたしの民の中から出て行くがよい。そしてあなたがたの言うように、行って主に仕えなさい。12:31 He called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel; and go, serve Yahweh, as you have said!
12:32あなたがたの言うように羊と牛とを取って行きなさい。また、わたしを祝福しなさい」。12:32 Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also!”
12:33こうしてエジプトびとは民をせき立てて、すみやかに国を去らせようとした。彼らは「われわれはみな死ぬ」と思ったからである。12:33 The Egyptians were urgent with the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, “We are all dead men.”
12:34民はまだパン種を入れない練り粉を、こばちのまま着物に包んで肩に負った。12:34 The people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs being bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.
12:35そしてイスラエルの人々はモーセの言葉のようにして、エジプトびとから銀の飾り、金の飾り、また衣服を請い求めた。12:35 The children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they asked of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing.
12:36主は民にエジプトびとの情を得させ、彼らの請い求めたものを与えさせられた。こうして彼らはエジプトびとのものを奪い取った。12:36 Yahweh gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. They despoiled the Egyptians.
